The main symptom of Psorisis is red or pink areas of thickened,
raised and dry skin. This mainly appears on the elbows, knees and
scalp but can affect any other part of the body as well.
There are many different symptoms of Psorisis ranging from small
flattened bumps to large thick plaques of raised skin. It can also
be in the form of red patches or pink mildly dry skin to big flakes
of dry skin that peel off. These symptoms tend to be more common in
areas of trauma, rubbing or abrasions.
Each psoriasis classification is characterized by its own unique
symptoms. Psoriasis vulgaris, the most common type appears in the
form of skin plaque, which forms patches of loose silvery scales on
the skin. Guttate Psorisis is marked by small, drop like spots,
while inverse psoriasis shows up in the folds like the underarms,
navel, and buttocks.
Pustular psoriasis or palmoplantar pustulosis is characterized by
small, liquid-filled yellowish blisters on the palms and soles.
Erythrodermic Psorisis causes severe itching and lots of skin debris
while nail psoriasis affects the fingernails and toe nails. The last
type – psoriatic arthritis affects the joints.
Psorisis can also cause genital lesions on the head of the penis and
flat red patches in moist areas of the body like the navel and the
folds of the buttocks. The condition can also cause pinpoint
depressions and white spots on the nails or large yellowish-brown
oil spots on the nail beds.
Psoriasis on the scalp appears in the form of severe dandruff like
dry flakes and red areas of skin. Each symptom of Psorisis is
recognizable, yet can easily be misunderstood with symptoms of other
conditions such as fungal infections.
